Powerful Advert on Domestic Violence

A friend from America shared the YouTube link to this Super Bowl advertisement of NO MORE. At first, I wasn’t quite sure what really I am watching (needless to say English is not my first language) I had to play it a few times to understand but once I focused on the video, and understood the horrifying reality that was being depicted in the phone call – I was stunned, even in tears not to mention really was glad someone is getting a very important message out there. Watch the video below before you read further. .

Now that you have seen and I am certain every woman specially understands this advertisement is about Domestic Violence & Abuse please do note a few things I have to request, very carefully  –

1. No matter which country you are in, no matter where you live – show this video to a cop or a friend who knows a cop or a local sheriff / commissioner / officer who you can contact to show this video. Explain to them, every single emergency call is worth treating as serious and sometimes presence of mind if required to understand the real message being sent even when it might appear to be a random call. Ask them to be the officer who will understand the signal and save a life!

2. Show this to every woman, every girl, even every man who has gone through domestic violence or is going through or you suspect might be involved as a doer or recipient of domestic violence. Spread the word, let them know – domestic violence is a serious crime and it must be tackled.

3. Domestic violence can happen to anyone, female, male, child, elderly, working professional, home body – just anyone. Don’t ignore it, don’t turn away and certainly don’t turn a blind eye. Listen, Watch, Act, if you fear something is going on. Sometimes the action may just be starting a conversation, at other times it could be calling police for someone. If you are not sure, and if there is an opportunity, consult someone who can help you make a judgement call.

Just do not ignore domestic violence, no matter who you are!

Lets stand together and say NO MORE!

About GHRP

Global Human Rights People is an online campaign for social welfare and human rights, which began in 1976. In 1998, Shaheed Satish was abducted and murdered in a gruesome execution style by slicing the scalp of his head sending a message to his family that ‘The brain’ has been taken away that helped them lead many protests and campaigns against Human Rights violations of the poor and labor class society of Indian people by the Rich and Powerful. It did bring a halt to his work for a while as the family dealt with the shock and anger of such a brutal murder. The grief was overwhelming and destructive at first, but soon it became the strength for his family who to date continues his great work and now successfully evolved into a global campaign for human rights.

GHRP Campaigns include and are not limited to – (Arranged in Alpha Order) :

  • AIDS Awareness | Animal Welfare  |  Children Rights
  • LGBT Equality  | Human Rights  | Women Rights
  • Peace Campaign |  Save Earth | Worker Rights

And a lot more!
